- Did you know that The emperor penguins' home is Antarctica, in the southernmost tip of the world: a landscape of ice and snow. The penguins are protected from the extreme cold by a two- to three-centimeter-thick layer of fat and waterproof feathers. Emperor penguins are very sociable animals that live together in large groups, known as colonies. At night, the birds huddle together and regularly change places so everyone can find some warmth in the center of the group.
