  • Did you know Alpacas, like llamas, belong to the camel family. To protect themselves from weather and wind in the mountains, alpacas have a very dense, downy coat. Because alpaca wool is lighter, softer and warmer than sheep's wool, it is very popular. Once a year, alpacas are sheared, which can produce up to 6 kg of wool - enough for up to 10 thick, warm, cuddly jumpers.
