Het spel Leeuwentoren brengt de geschiedenis tot leven.

The Lion Tower game brings history to life.

In the Westhoek region lives a fantastic teacher: Stefaan Vanoplynes. While out walking with his son, he came up with the idea to develop his own game: the Lion Tower . The idea came during a visit to the ramparts of Ypres, where you can find the remains of a genuine medieval lion tower .

Conquer the Lion Tower!

The Lion Tower is a combination of Kubb and Pétanque . Each team has 6 wooden soldiers and 1 Lion Tower . The goal is to be the first to knock down the opponent's 6 soldiers and then capture the tower.

Additionally, you can choose whether to defend or attack . This allows you to play the game more tactically. If you choose defense, you can use all four cannonballs. If you go for attack, you can only use three cannonballs, but you can replace a fallen soldier.

It takes a bit of trial and error, but once you start the game, it becomes self-explanatory.

At Fairplace we are fans of sustainable toys and play materials.

Lion's Tower is a Belgian game concept. It was conceived in Ypres and is highly sustainable in its materials. Sustainable wood is used, and instead of paint, the designs are laser-etched into the wood. The packaging is made of 100% recyclable cardboard.

For every game sold, Stefaan plants a tree.

Stefaan, the creator of the Lion's Tower , is committed to planting one tree for every game sold. This way, he gives back to nature, which he uses in the game's production. At Fairplace, we're fans of sustainable toys. We're happy to give Stefaan a boost by selling the Lion's Tower through our webshop.

Lion Tower: where does the name come from?

We know the city of Ypres primarily for the Menin Gate and World War I, but Ypres also boasts a medieval fortress and ramparts. On these ramparts, you'll find the remains of the old Lion Tower, a robust round corner tower with a fitting name. It's no wonder the game uses cannonballs. Medieval cannonballs were found around the ramparts during the tower's restoration.

Competition or just for fun?

You can play Lion's Tower with 2 to 8 players. You can just play it for fun. Because the gameplay is relatively simple, you can also play it with even the youngest children. A game lasts between 10 minutes and half an hour. That's perfect for the attention span of even the youngest players. If you start playing tactically earlier, it will naturally become more exciting.

Delivered in a sturdy cardboard box. The wooden pieces can be stored in a stylish carrying bag.
