It's that time again: vacation! Barely 5 weeks after the Christmas vacation, the spring break is here! Super fun, but such a vacation can be quite a challenge if you have to work yourself. Don't panic, we've got good news!
Here are some tips to help you survive the spring break with school-age kids and even make it a week they'll talk about for a long time to come.
The weather forecast doesn't really make you happy: the sun does come out, but it's still cold and Jacotte predicts rain. Don't let that bad weather ruin your spring break and seize the opportunity to craft, build or be creative with your child. Say goodbye to boredom with these 5 tips:
1. Add some color to your day with Crayon Rocks
Fancy a creative afternoon? With a range of vibrant colours, our Crayon Rocks are ideal for hours of drawing and colouring activities that also promote fine motor skills. Lay a large sheet of paper on the floor and let your children create a wall drawing (fits on the toilet door!). Or encourage them to illustrate their own stories or draw the garden for the coming spring.
2. Build your own world with Makedo
With Makedo your kids can make anything they can imagine: from spaceships, castles to robot costumes. All they need is cardboard and our craft sets. The great thing about Makedo is that it not only keeps kids busy, but also teaches them about recycling and sustainability. Give your kids a pile of old cardboard, a Makedo toolkit and watch them get lost in their imagination, super fun! Please note: our 2 most popular sets are currently sold out and will not be back in stock until next week. We do still have the Screw Set and the Starter Set in stock.
3. Develop fine motor skills with Haba toys
"Mommy, daddy, I'm bored!" Not with our puzzles and board games from the well-known German brand Haba. The familiar yellow boxes come in all sizes and levels of difficulty. To play with 4, with 2 and also alone. So ... organize a games afternoon with Haba board games or challenge your children with a Haba puzzle.
4. Organize playdates
During the holidays, there are plenty of other parents who are faced with the same dilemma about how to entertain the children. Take the opportunity to organize play dates with your children's friends. This way, you get to go somewhere and it is also always nice to play with toys from other children. This way, the kids have fun and you as parents can relax and catch up. Win-win! And get out your Fairplace toys. PS: the Stapelstenen are also always a good idea for play dates.
5. Create a moment of rest
Holidays can be quite busy and hectic at times, so make sure you plan some downtime every now and then. Create a cosy corner in your home with cushions and blankets where you can relax with your children, read a book or just do nothing. Why not in your self-built camp with the Pl-ug tent sets ? It is important to have some quality time and relax during your holiday. Check out our collection of children's books here.
